Bambejja Child Support Project

The Bambejja Child Support Project works with girls under 18 years of age, who are living in extremely deprived home situations and whose basic needs are not met.

Many of these children have been orphaned by AIDS and are living with grandparents or other relatives who are unable to provide adequate care and support.

“I would like to become a lawyer so

I can work with children living in similar

conditions just like mine….”

Rachel,18

The project gives girls like Rachel an opportunity in life through the following ways:

  • Sponsorship to local pre-school, primary schools and secondary schools
  • Catch-up’ primary schooling for those who have dropped out of school between Primary 3 and 7, including rehabilitation and academic support, leading to the re-integration of girls into the formal schooling system.
  • Life skills training including HIV and sex/relationship education.
  • HIV testing, follow-up care/support and counselling.
  • Medical, Dental and Eye-Care Services.
  • Provision of nutritious meals when girls are at the centre
  • After School care and Holiday Club, including Christian teaching and recreational activities

We are very grateful for everyone who supports our work and we would like to thank AVSI and Barclays Bank Uganda for partnering with us in bringing a difference in the girls' lives.
